The Trust distributes funds to eligible Citizen Advocacy programs and other parties who are developing citizen advocacy and ensures that funds are made on a fair and objective basis on merit.
Applications for grants are invited on an annual basis by the Trust and should be completed on the Grant application form after reading the Grant guidelines in detail to ensure that the applicant is eligible to apply and the project meets the Trusts purposes.
On receipt of the applications the Grant Committee follows an extensive assessment process to select the most appropriate project and makes a recommendation to the Board.
The successful applicant is then notified and a Grant agreement is developed for all parties to sign. A Grant report and acquittal is also developed and reflects the Grant agreement. On completion of the project the Grant report and acquittal is then completed within the agreed time-frame.
The Board may also respond to requests for specific grants outside the annual grant offer, depending on available funds.
Once a year the Trust also makes available a set grant to fund Network meetings for Board members and staff from Citizen Advocacy programs to gather together to debate, learn and strengthen their citizen advocacy practice. This is a less formal process and is managed by the host Program of the meeting.
Donors are assured that funds given to the Citizen Advocacy Trust will be disbursed in an objective and comprehensive manner to Citizen Advocacy projects so as to achieve the greatest benefit from the available resources.
